Do I really need a timing Chip?

Yes, it is critical for all participants to have one on.  Besides the timing aspects it will also serve an important role for search and rescue on the rugged course.  With this system the location of a runner could be narrowed to a specific section of the course and help to make the rescue much faster.  With the often severe weather conditions during the race and with the increased numbers of participants we need everyone to have a chip.  It is very small and light and is used by elite athletes and amateur racers at many large races around the world.  Chips will be collected at the Finish

Can I use my own timing Chip?

Personal chips are not compatible with the AMB system.
